Nestled between Myoko Kogen and Nozawa Onsen, Madarao is a powder hound’s paradise, offering excellent tree skiing, moderately steep terrain, and off-piste runs. An exciting, less-crowded alternative to Japan’s larger resorts.

Madarao can be reached in 3h 30min from Narita. Take the Skyliner train from Narita to Ueno and transfer to the Hokuriku Shinkansen to Iiyama. Here a shuttle service will take you to Madarao Kogen.
Madarao has a number of dining options from casual Japanese Izakaya, Okonomiyaki and Shabu Shabu restaurants to Pizza and Italian restaurants . There are a number of bars and pubs in the village but Madarao is not a late night ski town.
